The 764th Bomb Squadron was one of the heavy bomber squadrons of the 461st Bombardment Group. Its main focus during the war in Europe were factories, assembly plants, oil refineries, storage sties, marshalling yards, and airdromes. It was mostly demobilized and returned to the United States after the conclusion of the war in Europe. It was then deployed to the Pacific front in 1945, but its deployment was short-lived due to the Japanese surrender in August that same year.
